Ponybois; The Axis Theatre

With the Dublin Fringe Festival fast approaching, the blog has been tinged with quite a bit of theatre and dramatics lately.

Though, it’s about time, really!

Perhaps recently you came across my interview with Róise Goan, the Director of the Dublin Fringe Festival, and wondered what you should see this year?

I’ve poured over the programme online and there are so many fantastic exhibitions and performances this year, that it will be a huge challenge to get to see everything that I want.

Last year, one of my Fringe highlights was ponydance in Smock Alley.

They are an incredible troupe of dancers who infuse pop culture, humour, social issues, pole dancing and rollerblading into a performance – I kid you not!

I was extremely fortunate to speak with chief-pony Leonie McDonagh ahead of their performance last year but this year, the stallions and the mares have divided!

Ponybois’ show ‘How To Be A Lad(y)’ takes to The Axis Theatre on September 6th and 7th and Smock Alley Theatre from the 11th to the 15th of September.

BUT to celebrate the launch of their Autumn programme, The Axis Theatre in Ballymun are selling fifty tickets to the ponybois’ performance for just €5!

(I know, it sounds too good to be true! It’s not!)

There are merely fifty tickets for a fiver, which are available from today on a first-come-first-served basis.

You can book the tickets by calling the Axis at 01 883 2100 or email your reservation to [email protected]

P.S. There are actually now only 48 tickets, because I bought my two before I posted this. You understand, right?!

If you’re still undecided, check out the trailer for ‘How To Be A Lady’ below.

This show will make you laugh, cry and think!
